Is Abundance a State of Being or Doing?

Abundance can be both a state of being and doing. Many people strive to live in a state of abundance but often fail to recognize the various forms it can take. Instead, we tend to associate abundance solely with the flow and accumulation of money. However, true abundance encompasses much more than that.

Last year, I made a life-changing decision to resign from my 9-5 job and embark on the journey of becoming an entrepreneur. This decision was both terrifying and liberating, forcing me to question my identity and the ideals I held for myself. Initially, I found myself selling my skills and acquired knowledge in the industry I had worked in, earning only a minimum wage. But as time went on, I began to realize that abundance is not solely tied to a specific job or salary.

I started to shift my perspective and recognize the evidence of prosperity all around me. Take New York City, for example. It is a city abundant in experiences. For just $1, you can enjoy a slice of pizza, visit museums for free, or watch movies. Access to libraries in all five boroughs is available to anyone, and with a mere $5.50, you can travel to any location you desire. Abundance is not limited to financial wealth but can be found in the richness of these experiences.

Furthermore, I discovered that ideas themselves represent a form of abundance. Through them, we can generate not only cash but also unique experiences. By embracing nontraditional employment, I had the freedom to explore different concepts and expand my skills. This led me to create and sell organic soaps and lotions, as well as explore writing as a means of self-expression and documenting my journey of self-discovery and awareness.

Additionally, prosperity can be found in the connections we make along our path. Each person we meet becomes a bridge to new perspectives and ideas, ultimately leading us to a more fulfilled life and a deeper understanding of the world around us.

Through living in gratitude, taking chances, and not taking things for granted, I was able to truly recognize the abundance that already existed in my life. Let me share a story that exemplifies this. Last summer, I visited my mother in Pennsylvania when she was unwell. Due to financial constraints, I could only afford a one-way ticket. However, during the journey, unexpected acts of kindness occurred. A lady offered me her unused return ticket, and an elderly couple generously shared their extra Starbucks coffee. These acts of generosity showed me that abundance can manifest itself through the kindness of strangers.

In conclusion, abundance is indeed a state of being, not just doing. It requires us to open our eyes, shift our perspectives, and embrace gratitude for the richness of experiences, ideas, connections, and unexpected blessings that already surround us. By believing in the abundance that exists and living with an open heart, we can tap into the infinite possibilities that life has to offer.

Socrates believed inspiration is the divine moving you, and it occurs by the magnetic pull attracting us to the object.
