Embracing the Unknown: A Journey to Uncover Authentic Self
Throughout my life, I’ve grappled with the complex and ever-evolving concept of identity. When facing major life decisions or changes, it’s only natural to question who I am and what truly defines me.
I’ve often attached my identity to external factors like my career, interests, or achievements. However, I’ve realized that relying solely on these external markers can lead to a fragile sense of self, vulnerable to shattering when circumstances shift.
My journey began with an academic pursuit, investing seven years in education to pursue a career in the fashion industry. However, I felt my creativity stifled upon entering the corporate world, and a disconnection from my true self emerged. It became clear that my identity had become entwined with my career, prompting me to break free from this confinement.
Embracing the unknown
Leaving the corporate world brought its share of challenges. Distancing myself from my previous career led to a profound sense of uncertainty and an existential void. I experienced what they can “The dark night of the Soul.”Â
This emotional struggle revealed a fundamental truth about the connection between “doingness” and “beingness.” I realized that equating my worth with my actions or achievements led to feelings of inadequacy when I wasn’t actively pursuing something.
In this introspective journey, I confronted the fear that drove my quest for external validation. Fear of not being accepted or loved or not measuring up to societal norms and expectations had been dictating my choices. I recognized how this fear bound me to seek recognition through titles and labels, creating a false sense of security while limiting my freedom.
Through this process of self-discovery, I understood the importance of embracing change, letting go of rigid labels for personal growth, and continually observing and acknowledging my fears. Because of this, I became more attuned to my authentic self. I unshackled myself from external definitions and found the freedom to explore my true passions and interests.
The Journey is the keyÂ
In this journey, I discovered that the most profound sense of self comes from within. My identity isn’t contingent on others’ perceptions or societal roles. My worth isn’t determined by the boxes I fit into or the titles I acquire. Instead, it is derived from my capacity to understand and accept myself fully, without fear or judgment.
Documenting the process of self-discovery led me to create this blog—a safe space for unraveling the complexities of mental health and questioning prevailing social paradigms.Â
Sharing my story has helped me realize the significance of self-awareness and the transformative power of confronting fear. Due to this experience, I’ve learned that striving to find value in my essence rather than just my actions is key to a more fulfilling and authentic life.
Liberation as the reward
Letting go of the fear-driven desire for external validation has paved the way for my liberation and genuine self-discovery. Embracing change and uncertainty has become a path to a truer version of myself.

Hiya, I’m really glad I’ve found this information. Today bloggers publish only about gossip and web stuff and this is actually frustrating. A good site with exciting content, that is what I need. Thank you for making this site, and I will be visiting again. Do you do newsletters by email?
