Your will is the factor keeping you in the undesired state of living. The weaker the will, the fewer advancements you will have in life, success is measured by your will power.
The fastest way to gauge your will power is by setting up an activity at a random time for a week, if you can not follow it through than you need to work on building a stronger will power.
The activity can be anything from reading to attending the gym, eating a healthy meal a day, meditating, or doing mundane tasks, etc.. I began by doing mundane chores around the house, like wash the dishes as soon as I finished eating. I also began writing, I would sit in front of a computer at a specific time and write whatever came to mind.
The will, like many other skills, is established through constant repetition, and here is where all of our power lies.
Our self-confidence diminishes when we say we are going to do something but end up not doing it. This act causes our words to lose meaning and power.
Living in a constant state of progression is what determines your future success. Setting up goals, tasks, and objectives keep you moving forward. Visualizing the outcome can help ground your experience.
You are in charge of creating the motivation needed to perform a task.
Your body and attitude will want to hinder your progress at first. Your job is to train the body to do what you want it to do at all times.
Through Neuro-Linguistic Programming I’ve learned specific ways to change the body’s chemical reaction. By using methods like visualization and power poses that induce happy hormones like dopamine, and serotonin; I have been able to shift my mood and attitude to a more relaxed and joyful state of mind.
Neuro- Linguistic Programming was created by Richard Bandler and John Grinder in the 1970’s. They believe there is a connection between neurological processes, language (linguistic) and behavioral patterns learned through experience (programming), and that these can be changed to achieve specific goals in life. They claim these patterns can be identified and changed to enhance a person’s life.
Before you begin the visualization, by breathe out all the air inside of your lungs, then inhale and hold your breath for 3 seconds and exhale. Repeat four times, now you are readying to begin visualizing. Close your eyes, think of a time and place where you felt relaxed and happy- you were out with friends, on vacation, enjoying your favorite meal, or just reading your favorite book while enjoying the beautiful weather. Picture yourself in this state, feel the air, taste the food. Do this until the new happy feelings start to raise. Then open your eyes and begin your activity.
The power poses are simple, hold a pose for less than three minutes, and feel the mood shift.
