How Strong is Your Will Power?

Strengthen Your Willpower for Success

Your willpower is the driving force behind your current state of living. The stronger your will, the greater your advancements and success in life.

To quickly assess your willpower, try setting up a random activity for a week and see if you can follow through. If you struggle to complete it, it’s an indication that you need to work on building a stronger willpower.

The activity can be as simple as reading, going to the gym, eating a healthy meal each day, meditating, or performing mundane tasks. Personally, I started by tackling household chores like washing the dishes immediately after meals. Additionally, I dedicated specific times to sit in front of a computer and write whatever came to mind.

Similar to acquiring other skills, willpower is developed through consistent repetition. This is where our true power lies.

Our self-confidence diminishes when we fail to follow through on our commitments. It undermines the meaning and impact of our words.

Sustained progress is the key to future success. Setting goals, tasks, and objectives keeps us moving forward. Visualizing the desired outcomes can provide a solid foundation for our experiences.

Creating motivation to perform a task is within our control. Initially, our body and attitude may resist our progress. However, our job is to train the body to align with our intentions consistently.

Using Neuro-Linguistic Programming techniques, I have discovered specific methods to alter the body’s chemical reactions. Visualization and power poses, for instance, can trigger the release of happiness hormones like dopamine and serotonin, enabling me to shift my mood and attitude to a more relaxed and joyful state of mind.

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) was developed by Richard Bandler and John Grinder in the 1970s. They propose that there is a connection between neurological processes, language, and learned behavioral patterns, which can be changed to achieve specific life goals. By identifying and modifying these patterns, individuals can enhance their lives.

Before you begin visualization, take a moment to exhale all the air from your lungs. Inhale deeply, hold your breath for three seconds, and then exhale. Repeat this process four times to prepare for visualization. Close your eyes and think of a time and place where you felt relaxed and happy. It could be a memory of being out with friends, on vacation, enjoying a favorite meal, or simply reading a beloved book while basking in beautiful weather. Immerse yourself in this state, feel the air, and savor the tastes. Continue until you feel the emergence of newfound happiness. Then open your eyes and proceed with your activity.

Power poses are simple; hold a pose for less than three minutes and feel your mood shift.

Here are a few examples of high-power poses:

  1. Stand tall with your arms raised in a V shape.

2. Place your hands on your hips while standing upright.

3. Assume a confident and open stance with your legs slightly apart and your arms behind your head.

Remember, nurturing your willpower will pave the way for success and personal growth.
